Pelourinho

Pelourinho is full of colorful antique buildings.

A view from the upper city to the lower city.

Baianas [Bahian women] selling "acarajé" and other Bahian food.

Bahianas made of coconut shells.

On Saturday, two weeks ago, I took my olds [the biological ones] to see Pelourinho, the historic city of Salvador. The day was prefect: full of sun shine, pretty&interesting places, views and things, and what's the best, hanging out together. Pelourinho is a place that never gets boring to give a visit, even though it's partly very touristic. It has that special atmosphere, the fascinating mixture of past&present, locals&foreigners, rich&poor, day-to-day life&tourist life, and black&white. Pelourinho with its narrow brick stone streets (?) and colorful antique buildings is still in these days the heart of the famous [yearly] Carnaval da Bahia, as it has always been. In the matter of a fact, the carnaval was born here.
